Welcome to September at KPLA!
September is here, and at Kim’s Play & Learn Academy we’re so excited to launch our official 2025–2026 Theme Series! This month, we begin our journey with two inspiring themes:
My Friends and Me Forest Adventure These themes encourage children to grow in social-emotional skills, build meaningful friendships, and discover the beauty of God’s creation. We believe that learning is most impactful when it’s interactive, engaging, and rooted in real-life experiences—and September’s activities will bring all of that to life.
Quote of the Month
"I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."— Psalm 139:14
This Scripture serves as a reminder that every child is uniquely created by God. Throughout the month, we’ll encourage children to embrace their individuality while also learning how to appreciate and celebrate the differences in others.
It’s a beautiful opportunity to teach self-worth, kindness, and belonging.
Learning Life Skills:
For 2–5 Year Olds KPLA focuses on whole-child development, which means preparing children not just academically but for everyday life. September is the perfect time to introduce age-appropriate life skills that empower independence and confidence.
For 2–3 Year Olds at this age, little ones are soaking up routines and exploring self-awareness: Identifying their own name washing hands with gentle assistance Beginning to put on clothing Using utensils during Meals Practicing making simple choices (“Do you want the red cup or the blue one?”)
For 3–4 Year Olds Our preschoolers begin developing more responsibility and coordination: Helping set the table and participating in family routines Practicing putting on shoes and jackets independently Learning to snap, zip, or button clothing Picking up toys after playing Stating their preferences and opinions confidently
For 4–5 Year Olds As children prepare for kindergarten, their skills become more refined: Memorizing their phone number and address Dressing independently Sorting recyclables to learn about responsibility and environmental care Using basic technology under supervision for learning Assisting with meal prep and cleaning up after themselves We’ll incorporate these skills naturally into our routines through play-based learning, giving children a sense of accomplishment while supporting their independence.
Exploring Our September Themes My Friends and Me Children will learn:
How to make new friends Ways to share, take turns, and communicate Feelings Recognizing that God made each of us special, yet we’re all part of a community. We’ll use stories, circle-time conversations, and role-playing games to help children practice compassion, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Forest Adventure This theme brings the outdoors into learning! Activities include Exploring leaves, acorns, and textures found in nature Counting and sorting “forest treasures” to reinforce early math Engaging in art inspired by the forest using natural materials.
Healthy Snack of the Month:
Apple Roll-Up Incorporate this fun, hands-on snack into your at-home routines: Ingredients:
1 medium apple (sliced thin or in sticks)
Peanut butter, almond butter, or sunflower butter
Whole wheat tortilla Directions:
Spread a thin layer of nut butter on the tortilla. Lay out apple slices evenly. Roll tightly and slice into pinwheels. Enjoy together — encourage your child to help prepare and taste! This snack is a great way to promote fine motor skills while modeling healthy eating habits.
Routine Reset:
Peaceful Mornings & Restful Nights As we begin a new school year, consistency in routines sets children up for success. Here are some tips we encourage.
Morning Routine Tips:
Set out clothing the night before Build in extra buffer time to avoid morning stress
Start the day with a short family prayer or affirmation
Evening Routine Tips:
Involve your child in cleanup or dinner prep Use bedtime to reflect: “What was your favorite part of today?” End the day with gratitude, prayer, and quiet time to recharge.
This Labor Day, we pause to honor the hard work and dedication of our families and community. We hope you find time to rest, recharge, and celebrate with loved ones.
Looking ahead September is just the beginning!
This school year, we’re committed to creating a space where your child can learn, grow, and thrive spiritually, socially, and academically.
Welcome to September at KPLA!
